The Sanctuary (Lessons 1 & 2)

There is a place where God dwells;[1] a place of worship,[2] a holy temple, the true sanctuary, erected by the Lord, in Heaven,[3] where the Ruler of the Universe,[4] He who is eternal,[5] who fills both Heaven and Earth,[6] by whom all things exist and were created,[7] who is righteous[8] and holy,[9] sits, in splendor and glory, upon a throne whose foundation is mercy and justice, [10] out of which flows River of Life and around which grows the Tree of Life.[11] At His right hand,[12] in this glorious place, Jesus Christ,[13] Our LORD, our High Priest,[14] the slain Lamb,[15] ministers in our behalf.[16]
The Garden Temple: God created the earth and placed within it a home for mankind called the Garden of Eden[17] in which to commune with mankind.[18] In the center of it, as is in God’s dwelling place in heaven, He planted a Tree of Life and a river flowing.[19] When God was finished with His creation, He instructed the people in His laws[20] and set aside the seventh day as Sabbath,[21] a space of holy time in which to worship.[22] He sanctified it and blessed it.[23]
The Earthly Sanctuary: God told Moses, and eventually Solomon,[24] to build a tabernacle/temple so He could dwell among men, and communicate with His people.[25] He gave them the blueprint for its construction,[26] which was a pattern of the heavenly,[27] filled it with His glory,[28] and, as He did for the Sabbath, He sanctified it and blessed it.[29] Jesus as the Sanctuary: In the fullness of time, God came in the person of Jesus to dwell among men and die as the scarified lamb. He declared Himself to be the Temple, the Light of the world, the Bread of Life and the Living Water, an exact replica of the Father in Heaven, and, after suffering the sacrificial death, returned to Heaven as our intercessor, where He ministers before the Heavenly Father as our High Priest. Jesus, also, was sanctified[30] and blessed.[31]
We are the temple of God,[32] a holy priesthood,[33] built on the foundation of Jesus,[34] filled with and empowered by the presence of God in the person of the Holy Spirit.[35] We are to be faithful stewards,[36] not defiling our bodies, His holy temple.[37] We are to be constantly partaking of the Bread of Life and drinking the Living Water. Through Jesus we are sanctified,[38] and eternally blessed.
When it all comes together: There will come a blessed Sabbath day when the sanctified from the earth will worship.[39] Having abandoned their earthly tabernacles, [40]they will gather together before God’s throne,[41] in the presence of Jesus Christ, [42] the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world,[43] Then there will be no more temple, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.[44] Truly blessed[45] is he who believes![46]
